ALLETE Clean Energy (ACE), headquartered in Duluth MN develops and manages clean and renewable energy projects. This position is based at our Armenia wind farm.

We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Wind Turbine Technicians through our apprenticeship program. This position offers hands-on training and the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in the renewable energy sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under direct supervision, assists in performing entry-level preventative maintenance and repair activities consistent with policies and procedures on wind turbines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn the aspects of defect detection and repair of the wind turbines and aspects of heavy equipment (crane) rigging and directing.
  • Attend regular safety meetings and follows appropriate company safety and environmental policies.
  • Work within clearly defined standard operating procedures and adheres to quality guidelines.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required 
    • Preference may be given to applicants that have completed a wind technician training program.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • No experience required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position will report regularly in person to Mainesburg, PA.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as some travel may be required.
  • Must be able to meet the typical Physical/Mental/Environmental demands of the position: 
    • This is a very physically active job done outdoors in all kinds of weather.  You will need to be able to climb, carry up to 100 pounds, and at times work in cramped positions.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; particulate matter, loud noise levels, risk of electrical shock, and occasionally exposed to hazardous chemicals.
    • Requires excellent communication skills.
    • Possess the ability to read and have a basic understanding of operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and diagrams.
    • Basic knowledge of the use and care of of various hand tools and equipment utilized in this position
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
