Licensed Professional Geologist

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

 

This is professional work in the field of hydrogeology. The technical position is within the Department of Environmental Protection, Environmental Cleanup and Brownfields Program, Special Projects Section in the Southeast Regional Office.
 
 The employee in this class performs professional hydrogeologic duties involving the study, charting, preservation, utilization, protection, or remediation of hydrogeologic resources as necessary in support of the Environmental Cleanup and Brownfields Program. The employee manages a caseload of projects under the Land Recycling Program (Act 2) and Tanks Corrective Action Program (Act 32), and the employee provides technical expertise in support of the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act Program (HSCA). The employee is responsible for meeting DEP’s obligations under these programs by reviewing investigation and remediation reports submitted by consultants within required timeframes, as required by Act 2 and Act 32 and associated regulations, and by providing geologic expertise in support of DEP’s HSCA program.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
 

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,348 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Special Requirement:

  • All positions require possession of an active license as a professional geologist issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • All positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
