General Job Description:

This is public health administrative work either directing a health center providing categorical services or serving a neighborhood within a health district, acting as an assistant director of a large health district, or directing a specialized phase of limited scope of a major city-wide health services program. The employee in the Dental specialty directs the administrative operations of the dental program across health districts. The employee supervises lower-level public health administrators as well as medical, paramedical, nursing dental, environmental, and clerical personnel.

Conferring with officials of community groups and providing liaison between the program units, central departmental administrative units and the health districts are important aspects of the work.

GENERAL SPECIALTY:
1. EDUCATION:

Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, industrial management or engineering, business administration, hospital administration, public health, or a master’s degree in political science with major concentration in public administration.

AND
2. GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

One year of public health administrative experience in a large, complex personal health services agency.

AND

3. SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:

One year of public health administrative or supervisory experience in a large complex personal health services agency assisting in the administration of a health services center or specialized program at or above pay range N19/EP19 or equivalent.
