FSLL Assessment and Student Development Fellow

Mission and Goals of the Department / Unit:

The UD Fraternity and Sorority Leadership & Learning (FSLL) office supports fraternities and sororities as they advance their purpose and impact members’ ability to reach their full potential through leadership development, student advocacy, cultivation of partnerships and promotion of health and safety.

 

Position Summary:

The FSLL Assessment and Student Development Fellow will gain hands-on experience in assessment and evaluation of higher education programming. FSLL has one large program and several small programs that will be surveyed prior to the summer. The fellow will analyze that pre-collected data, create summary reports, and engage in staff discussions on how the data informs improvements to the future programs. The fellow will contribute to identifying ways to better tell FSLL’s story with data.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a review of pre-existing program assessments and data on membership numbers, grades, and rosters.
  • Create reports utilizing the collected data.
  • Engage in consultation with staff about recommendations for programs and services that help the Fraternity and Sorority Leadership & Learning office achieve its educational priorities.
  • Research best practices in student engagement.

 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Excellence in Excel.
  • Experience in Data Analysis.
  • Ability to evaluate assessment results and create summaries of information applicable to FSLL programs and free of bias.
  • Background or knowledge in student organizations, fraternities and sororities, or similar organizations.

 

Mentoring Plan:

The fellow will have at minimum weekly meetings with the Director who will help in providing direction, vision, and support the fellow in their growth as a professional. The fellow will have access to the FSLL professional staff to learn from and collaborate with.

Fellowship format: In-Person

Approximate number of hours per week: Up to 9.5 hours per week

IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE STARTING YOUR APPLICATION:

  1. This fellowship position is part of the Applied Career Exploration (ACE) program which is an experiential learning program meant to complement research training for full-time graduate students pursuing a graduate degree in STEM, humanities, and social sciences at the University of Delaware.
  2. In order to accept the fellowship, your combined on-campus employment, including contracted (TA/RA/GA) and/or hourly work, must not exceed 29.5 hours per week. If your ACE fellowship has a time commitment beyond 9.5 hours per week and you plan to hold a GA/RA contract during the ACE fellowship term, you must receive a written permission from your research advisor, program director or supervisor before applying for the ACE fellowship. Please consult the university’s employment policy for graduate students on contract.
  3. International graduate students must consult International Student and Scholar Services before starting the application process to ensure that they meet the U.S. federal government’s immigration eligibility requirements to participate in the program.
  4. For each fellowship application, candidates must also complete this form by the application deadline.
