Student Involvement Office ACE Fellow
Mission and Goals of the Department / Unit:
The University Student Centers (USC) cultivate a vibrant, inclusive, community in which students learn and thrive at the University of Delaware. As part of the Division of Student Life, the Trabant University Center and the Perkins Student Center serve as the social and educational epicenters for the campus, providing vibrant and intentionally planned engagement opportunities that support USCs’ learning outcomes, but also those of the Division of Student Life and the overall educational aims of UD, as articulated by the General Education purposes and objectives. The USC team affords every student a path to contribute to the campus community and heighten their sense of belonging through on-campus employment opportunities, nationally recognized leadership development programs, over 400 Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and dynamic and engaging campus events and traditions.
Position Summary:
The Student Involvement Office ACE Fellow will play a key role in the development and coordination of the Fall Involvement Fair, a critical event aimed at engaging students and fostering a sense of belonging at UD. This fellowship will provide hands-on experience in higher education event planning; networking opportunities with faculty, staff, and student leaders; and development of leadership and organizational skills. The fellow will contribute to the creation of a vibrant campus community.
Responsibilities:
(1) Event Planning and Coordination:
- Work closely with the Student Involvement Staff to plan and organize the Involvement Fair.
- Develop a comprehensive event timeline and ensure all necessary preparations are completed.
- Other duties as assigned.
(2) Communication and Outreach:
- Promote the Involvement Fair to students through various communication channels.
- Engage with student groups and encourage their participation in the event.
(3) Logistics Management:
- Coordinate logistics, including venue setup, signage, and equipment rental.
- Work closely with vendors and service providers to ensure a seamless event experience.
(4) Collaboration with Stakeholders:
- Liaise with faculty, staff, and student leaders to gather input and ensure broad representation at the fair.
- Facilitate meetings and communication among various campus entities involved in the event.
(5) Evaluation and Improvement:
- Collect feedback from participants and stakeholders to evaluate the success of the Involvement Fair.
- Propose recommendations for improvements and future enhancements.
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. We are looking for someone that is very comfortable communicating in a customer-friendly manner to students and peers. They need to be open to collaboration and willing to make adjustments and changes during an ongoing event.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Familiarity with event planning and coordination is a plus.
Mentoring Plan:
At this time, they will be mentored by the preceptor. We may have additional staff involved if our vacancies are filled. We will have 1:1 meetings every two weeks and weekly all-staff meetings.

Approximate number of hours per week: Up to 9.5 hours per week

- This fellowship position is part of the Applied Career Exploration (ACE) program which is an experiential learning program meant to complement research training for full-time graduate students pursuing a graduate degree in STEM, humanities, and social sciences at the University of Delaware.
- In order to accept the fellowship, your combined on-campus employment, including contracted (TA/RA/GA) and/or hourly work, must not exceed 29.5 hours per week. If your ACE fellowship has a time commitment beyond 9.5 hours per week and you plan to hold a GA/RA contract during the ACE fellowship term, you must receive a written permission from your research advisor, program director or supervisor before applying for the ACE fellowship. Please consult the university’s employment policy for graduate students on contract.
- International graduate students must consult International Student and Scholar Services before starting the application process to ensure that they meet the U.S. federal government’s immigration eligibility requirements to participate in the program.
