
Veterinarian

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct thorough pre-race examinations of all horses entered to race, assessing their fitness and health status.
- Monitor horses during races and post-race for any signs of distress or injury.
- Collect and process biological samples for drug testing by established protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all examined horses.
- Advise the stewards on matters related to equine health and recommend scratches when necessary.
- Oversee the implementation and enforcement of medication rules and regulations.
- Investigate and report on any incidents of animal cruelty or neglect at racetracks.
- Collaborate with track management, trainers, and owners to promote best practices in equine care and welfare.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with advances in veterinary medicine and racing regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution
Experience: New Graduate or experience in equine medicine.
